The Costs of Distributing Imagery

Your users are demanding higher and higher resolution images to be distributed to their desktops, laptops, and handheld devices so they can do their jobs. But as an IT professional, you know that doing so is difficult: imagery takes up a large amount of space, and the higher the resolution of the image, the more room it occupies on disk. Images are also difficult to transmit; while a simple text email is less than 10KB in size, geospatial image datasets are easily 1GB or larger. Finally, you need to make sure that your users can use these images in their applications of choice.

Express Server 6.1 enables you to increase the speed of delivery and range of distribution for your geospatial images and metadata - without any additional hardware or bandwidth. By using the MrSID and JPEG 2000 file formats, your images only take up a fraction of the space required for GeoTIFF imagery. Express Server is also designed to easily integrate with any application, so your users can work with their imagery however they need to.
